BEGINNERS : MONDAYS 7-8 AT PRESTON
The 7-8 session on Mondays is a beginners-only group with a professional coach and a balanced mixture
of coaching and playing time.
This is where you can be sure of a welcome (if we think you're too strong you'll get pushed forward
to a different session). Players in the 7-8 session usually get
to play on into the improvers session that follows.
IMPROVERS : MONDAYS 8-10 AT PRESTON
The 8-10 session on Mondays is for players who are strong enough to to play with (and against) stronger players.
The skills and tactics covered are still the basics, but you can expect harder and faster routines and
practice games. There's a professional coach for the first hour, and the second hour is all playing time.
The difference between a beginner level player and an improver level player is you're a beginner if you're
mainly hitting the shuttle up in the air - you're an improver once you're able to get behind the shuttle
and mostly hit it flat or downwards.
COACHING DAY : WEEKEND
Our "Coaching Day" workshop provides a "proficiency course" for club players, running through all the
basic skills and tactics (developed from the badminton content of the old level 1 coaching courses).
It's not suitable for beginners (you'll want a lot of the same material but presented at a more
convenient pace) but is for strong improvers and club players, especially those who have reached
their current level without lots of coaching.
It's also good as a comprehensive revision course for players who have already been coached - things
rarely "click" the first time you try them and this will help sweep up things you missed.
Let us know if you think you'll be interested and we'll try to contact you next time BEFORE
we fix the date (so we can try to schedule around you other commitments).
COACHING COURSE : THURSDAYS
We also have an option to run a course with the same material as the coaching day but spread over six to
eight weeks, making it suitable for for improvers and strong beginners being coached in the basic
skills for the first time (because it's in bite sized chunks with plenty of practice time).
We need a minimum number of players in order to run it, so let us know if you'd be interested.
